According to market research by Smithers Pira, sales of printers in Europe are expected to increase by 0.2% every year through to 2018—worth US$5.73 billion (€5.2 billion) in 2018. IDC also report that the European hardcopy market saw a 7.1% increase in the first quarter, with 5.36 million units shipped worth US$2.66 billion dollars, up 1.7% year-on-year. Western Europe single and multifunction printers markets continued to increase 2% year-on-year with 5.87 million units shipped in late 2014, increasing for the sixth quarter in a row. And IDC, also report the printing peripherals market in Africa grew 17.7% in the first quarter this year.
